Mission Statement
Small farms focused on Agri-tourism are limited in Mill options for fleeces generated each year. Small farms range from 3 animals to 20 with an average fleece weight of 3lbs – 5lbs each. Mills are few and far between and the larger mills are only accepting 50 to 150 lbs minimum.
The Fibre Shed offers a “New Generation Co-operative” that has Multi-stakeholders and is “for-profit” with proceeds paid out to members at the end of the year from profits generated. This provides an opportunity for small farms to have access to mills, finished product to sell and option to participate in an exclusive “made in Canada” product at wholesale prices.

Value Statement; One Member, One Vote
A co-op is a business, owned by a group of people with a common interest who make decisions together and share in the business’ profits.
One member, one vote Every member (owner) of a co-op gets one vote in important decisions — in co-op circles, this is referred to as the “one member, one vote” principle. Other types of businesses don’t typically do this. In some, if you invest more money you get more votes, which gives you more power to influence decisions. That is not how a co-op works. Co-ops are designed so a person can’t buy more decision-making power. This helps ensure the purpose of the co-op always reflects what the members (owners) want.
